Subject: Letter of Reference Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2005 08:27:29 -0700 From: "Olivia ... Region 19 Education Service Center 6611 Boeing Drive El Paso, Texas 79925 I am a Project Manager of services for students who are blind or who have low vision at an Education Service Center in El Paso, Texas. One of my responsibilities is to provide training for parents. In July 2004 I contracted with Daniel Kish to present at a family conference. He spoke on orientation and mobility from the perspective of his personal experiences as a person who is blind. Additionally, he addressed the importance of acquiring good orientation and mobility skills. His presentation was informative and entertaining. The parents rated Mr. Kish’s presentation as exceptional. Prior to the presentation last July I had heard Mr. Kish present and an international conference on Orientation and Mobility in Louisiana. He presented on techniques he uses as a blind orientation and mobility specialist to teach and monitor his students. I personally learned a lot from his presentation. Therefore, as I started to plan the family conference last summer, I immediately thought of contracting with Mr. Kish to give a keynote speech and to serve on a panel to address employment options for persons who are blind or who have low vision. I highly recommend Mr. Daniel Kish as a presenter. He is motivating and provides practical information. Sincerely, Olivia Chavez Project Manager, VI
